Apple’s new mobile platform iOS 8 now enable developers to build camera apps with manual controls that were never seen on any iOS device before.

AnandTech has reported about AVCaptureDevice APIs that brings new manual controls like ISO, shutter speed, manual focus, whitebalance and exposure to developers. The API also enables gray card functionality that is used in many digital cameras to deal automatically with color and whitebalance. Additionally camera apps can also feature EV bracketing and shutter speed/ISO bracketing.

Apple sure had no options other than stepping on the grounds where Windows Phone and Android apps provide users with manual camera controls.

The stock camera app however will only feature exposure bias control in iOS 8.
