The tablet shipment has declined to 0.75 million (7,46,463) units from previous quarter Q4 2013’s 1.03 million (10,32,739) units. According to the report, issues with DeiTY imposed compulsory BIS certification and introduction of newer phablet devices in the market resulted in the declining of tablet shipment in India.

Samsung leads as the top vendor to ship most of the tablets with a market share of 24.9% followed by Datawind and Apple with market share of 15.9% and 10.2% respectively.

With newer phablets arriving on Indian shores, consumers are finding tablets a lesser convenient mobile device to primarily be used as media consumption device such as a large sized smartphone or phablet.

According to CMR’s MarketVision 2014 report, foreign as well domestic vendors have been shifting their focus from making a typical tablet to a more productive tablet that is currently required to serve both consumers as well as enterprise sector.
